Vienna goes vertical with a huge structure in Chicago at Navy Pier
Icons of Vienna – and People of Chicago`s perceptions of the Austrian city – will be literally turned on their side on Mai 25, when the Vienna Tourist Board builds a huge structure at Navie Pier in Chicago.
To help the Citizens of Chicago see “Vienna from a different angle”, the Vienna Tourist Board is building a 21 m high wall for a spectacular vertical show and public challenge.
The dramatic acrobatics show will play on the wall right in front of the Navy Pier four times daily, at 1 pm, 3:30 pm, 5:30 pm and 7 pm, a daring celebration of traditional and modern Viennese culture while suspended in the air.
Mixing art, sound, lights and adventurous aerial displays, the show takes inspiration from Vienna’s modern music scene, Imperial heritage, indulgent food and wine scene, and the Viennese waltz.
In between shows, there is also a chance for the public to take a spinetingling horizontal stroll down the wall – face first! – defying gravity through specially developed climbing harnesses.
All the action occurs under the careful guidance of a team of highly-trained safety professionals led by eh showbox. The show was produced in order of Jochen Schweizer.
Demonstrating Vienna’s renowned electronic music scene, DJ DEF MIKE – will be DJing in the square throughout.
